Professor of Econometrics at USC:
Short CV: Maria-Carmen Guisan was born in the city of A Coruña (Spain) in year 1947, where she lived for the period 1947-1965. For 1965-1970 she studied Economics (Licenciatura of 5 years, equivalent to current Graduate and Master) at te Faculty of Economics of Bilbao (Spain). She got Doctorate degree in year 1975, with a Thesis on Aggregated Production Funcions in OECD countries, inspired by the book by Denison and supervised by Professor J.Bernardo Pena Trapero (UAH, Madrid). She teached Economic Stattistics and Econometrics at the Faculty of Economics of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) since year 1970 until year 2017. She was named Full Professor of Econometrics in year 1987. Since year 2017, after age retirement for teahcers, she become Honorary Professor of Applied Economics (Econometrics).
Her complete name in Spanish is: María-Carmen Guisán-Seijas.
1) Teaching and Doctoral supervisor: She has been teacher of Econometrics since year 1970, Professor since 1987. Director of Master for the period 1997-2007. She has taught Applied Econometrics (general, advanced and specialized on econometric models of development at international, national and regional levels, having into account demand and supply.
For the period 1987-2026 she has supervised 16 Doctoral Dissertations, has been Editor of prestigious academic journals, Is one of the Top women economists, in the international comparison of the article by Guisan(2018) by the number of Dissertations supervised.
2) Editorial tasks: She has dedicated thousands of hours to editorial activities, as Editor of the 4 journals published by the Euro-American Association of Economic Development Studies, the journal RGE of the Faculty of Economics of the university of Santiago de Compostela (USC), and the Working Paper series EcoDev published by the Econometrics Team of the Faculty of Economics of the USC (Spain). Besides, she has been member of the Editorial Board and reviewer of several international journal.
